Universitatea din Malta are cel mai mare număr de studenți de peste mări

The University of Malta at present has 1,073 overseas students and it is the highest number ever for the University. This is as per the yearly report on the trends for internationalization at the University. It is written by Professor Godfrey Baldacchino the Pro-Rector. It reveals that 8% of the total student population at the 14 faculties are overseas students.

The highest numbers of overseas students have been registered by the following faculties:

• Management and Accountancy
• Arts and Economics
• Medicină și Chirurgie

The proportion of overseas students within the Schools, Centre, and Institutes of the University is even higher. It is 18% din populația studențească, după cum este citat de Times of Malta.

The data also reveals a rise in the number of overseas students in the programs at the Doctoral level. The chief contributor for this increase was the program Doctorat în farmacie. The numbers have doubled over the last year in this program.

It has also been revealed by the report that increased interest is being expressed by overseas students in undertaking overseas exchange study periods. It is in comparison with the earlier years.

Totally 356 University students undertook an Erasmus mobility experience. On the other hand, 14 students chose to go for a semester study in a non-EU nation. It was 13% higher than the last year.

The University of Malta, in turn, hosted 359 overseas students for Erasmus experience and 41 students from non-EU nations. It was a decrease of 12% over the last academic year.

The positive results have been attributed by the report to the development of agency networks in definite feeder nations. This is along with fine-tuned and improved marketing and communication tools. These are being utilized by the University for reaching out to both overseas and domestic audiences.
