The RISE scholarship to study abroad in Germany

20 years Hannah LaMond has obtained the RISE - Research Internships in Science and Engineering scholarship for summer research. This is to conduct research and study abroad in Germany at Hanover.

The RISE scholarship in Germany offers Undergraduate students the chance to work along with Doctoral students. The latter serve as mentors to the former.

Studenții de licență from Ireland, the UK, and the US can apply for this scholarship. Students selected for the internship get a monthly stipend for covering everyday expenses. Around 300 such scholarships are offered annually, as quoted by the Loyola Edu.

The aim of the program is to encourage student exchange to Germany in the field of science. It is also to assist UG students to learn regarding study and research opportunities in Germany.

Hannah is a writing minor and biochemistry major. She says that her aim is to diversify her skills. This is by immersing me in German culture and learning, she adds. Hannah arrived from Doylestown, Pa to Loyola.

LaMond said that the experience will help her in the future. I have still not decided on the area of research. But I plan to go to a graduate school, she adds.

Hannah LaMond is a Performance Manager at Phonathon. She is a Teaching Assistant at Loyola’s General Chemistry Laboratories. I will gain the knowledge and skills to advance in my career by study abroad and researching in Germany, adaugă ea.

Theresa Geiman, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Biology who is a part of the National Fellowships Committee from 2015. I enjoy mentoring Loyola students, said Geiman.

Gaining experience in research is often crucial for students in Sciences to get entry into Graduate School programs said the Professor. Rise program offers students hands-on experience in scientific research in a global environment. This will be of tremendous help to them to advance in their careers in science, she explains.
