Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program or CELPIP is an English proficiency test. The CELPIP-General test evaluates a candidate’s Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing skills in the English language.

CELPIP-General and the IELTS are the two English tests which are accepted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) as approved tests for the Express Entry program. CELPIP-General is also accepted as an approved language test for other Permanent Residency programs in Canada.

The CELPIP-General test is completely computer-based. Hence, a test-taker can attempt the entire test in one sitting without the need of any additional appointments or interviews.

The test-takers of the CELPIP-General use a mouse and keyboard to attempt the Reading and Writing modules. The Listening and Speaking sections are completed using a headset and computer microphone.

When are the test results available?

Test-takers can opt between two choices while applying for CELPIP online:
