India ranks 65th out of 140 countries on Tourism Competitiveness Index (2013) conducted by the World Economic Forum. The number may not be very pleasing for now, but this certainly is some good news for the Indian tourism Industry. India ranked 63rd in 2011 and have improved 3 places in the last 3 years. It is likely to improve further with India introducing Visa-on-Arrival for 43 nations În noiembrie 27, 2014.
India is ranked 11th in Asia-Pacific and have fared well in the tourism index compared to other countries in the region: Sri Lanka ranked 74, Pakistan 122, Nepal 112, and Bangladesh 123.
World Economic Forum takes into account 14 parameters to conduct the study:
Improvement in India rank by 3 places, Hyderabad being ranked as the 2nd best place to visit in 2015 by International Travel Publication, and commencement of E-Visa indiană for 43 nations, all these factors together are likely to add more to the country's tourism industry in the years to come.
