Guvernul Andhra Pradesh The government of Andhra Pradesh (AP) state said that it would leave no stone unturned to bring back NRTs (Non-Resident Telugus) caught in hapless conditions in the Gulf countries. Discussions on this issue were said to have already been discussed with the MEA (Ministry External Affairs) by the AP state officials. More than 200,000 people from this southern Indian State are reported to be working in the Gulf countries such as the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia. Most of these are reportedly unskilled workers from Kadapa, Kurnool, East Godavari, West Godavari and Srikakulam districts. Many of them working there are not able to contact their family members while some of them are said to be suffering from severe health problems. There are several complaints that workers are being made to toil hard while being given low wages. Many women, it is said, are being subjected to harassment by the employers and as they cannot raise their concerns. Added to this, they are suffering from health problems due to the extreme weather condition in Gulf countries. Amit Bhardwaj, Migration of India representative, was quoted by The New Indian Express as saying that the migration of job seekers to Gulf countries has come down after the Gulf-war and also in the recent times. A survey conducted by the Institute of Migration of India revealed that many workers who are in the Gulf countries are being harassed by their employers, brokers and travel agencies who victimize the gullible for money. In the event of any close family member of the NRT lodging a complaint with a local police station in AP or the NRT, the Indian ambassador in that particular country will raise their problems, leading the Ministry of External Affairs and AP NRT to come to their rescue. If any person complains, Kollu Ravindra AP Non-Resident Telugu Affairs Department Minister, will coordinate with the Indian embassy in that country and the Ministry of External Affairs, who will intervene and bring the victim back to Andhra Pradesh. Ravindra added that a call centre would be launched exclusively for addressing these grievances. If you are looking to migrate to a Gulf country to work, do it in a legal or a proper manner. Y-Axis, a premier consultancy for immigration services, will help you do so.
