Norway allows more categories of individuals to enter the country

Norway has decided to include several other categories to the list of people that will be allowed to enter Norway amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision has been taken keeping in view the continuous drop in the number of coronavirus infections in Norway.

As the situation in Norway improves, there has been a relaxation in various other measures as well. The Ministry of Justice and Public Security of Norway has decided to allow more citizens from the European Economic Area [EEA] to come to the country.

Many other groups of foreigners that could have entered Norway under normal circumstances can also now return to Norway.

As per a Press Release by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, the changes allow seasonal workers that will be working either in the green industry or agriculture to enter Norway.

As soon as the decision is effective, family members of the EEA citizens as well as family members of Norwegian citizens will be considered to be eligible for travel to Norway. This will include EEA citizens that own real estate in Norway in the form of a holiday home or a second home. Such EEA citizens will be allowed to visit their property in Norway.

By family members of EEA citizens are implied –

Children below the age of 21 years or supported by the EEA citizen

Parents that are supported by the EE citizen

Despite the relaxation of COVID-19 special measures in view of a lessening of infection, all those entering Norway will be required to stay in quarantine for 2 weeks as per the rules.

With COVID-19 cases on the decline in various areas in the Schengen Area, suggestions have been made for the complete lifting or partial withdrawal of coronavirus special measures, beginning with the border areas.
