Nova Scotia Canada

Express Entry immigration stream was opened for a brief period on 9 December for the Nova Scotia Demand Category B.

The Nova Scotia government said that between 175 and 225 applications would be accepted during this opening of the NSDEE (Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry).

Just like with earlier openings, operated on a first-come, first-served basis, the intake limit of NSDEE was reached quickly. Taking this trend into consideration, advice has been given to candidates wanting to apply to this stream to be ready by going over eligibility gain and making sure that all documentation is updated and available with them.

Targeted at highly-skilled individuals, the NSDEE needs post-secondary education and the credentials for integrating well into the labour market of Nova Scotia.

To qualify for this Category Paid Work Experience in an Opportunity Occupation, a candidate needs to have a minimum of one year continuous full-time or an equivalent in an experience of part-time paid work in the last six years in one of the opportunity occupations, which are characterized as professions for which employment opportunities may be available in Nova Scotia.

To apply under Category B, one needs to have a profile registered in IRCC’s (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) Express Entry system; a score of at least 67 points on the stream’s six selection parameters; a minimum one-year skilled work experience in one of their target occupations; a qualification of a Canadian high school or equivalent; proof of English or French language proficiency at Canadian Language Benchmark 7; and having adequate financial resources to reside in Nova Scotia comfortably.

The unique point-system of the stream grants eligible applicants points based on work experience, education, language proficiency, age and ability to adapt.

One of Canada’s PNPs (Provincial Nominee Programs), the NSDEE, as per the Nova Scotia Nominee Program, is one of two Express Entry-aligned streams. Nova Scotia is allowed through the stream to propose a limited number of candidates in the Express Entry pool of federal government, included in which are candidates from the three economic immigration classes of the federal government: the FSTC (Federal Skilled Trades Class), the FSWC (Federal Skilled Worker Class) and the CEC (Canadian Experience Class).

The Express Entry pool candidates are ranked according to the CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System). Candidates who get a provincial nomination are given an additional 600 CRS points, giving them high chances of being invited to apply for permanent residence of Canada from the Express Entry pool’s subsequent draw.

Arranged Employment in Nova Scotia under the NSDEE’s Category A is open. People applying to this category must have a job offer backed by an encouraging Labour Market Impact Assessment from an employer in Nova Scotia. The job offer should be in an occupation of NOC (National Occupational Classification) skill level O, A, or B.
