The naturalization interview is the final point in your journey of becoming a US citizen.
A USCIS Officer asks you questions regarding your background and application during the naturalization interview. You may also need to take a civics or English test. However, under some scenarios, you may be exempted from the same.
There are 3 components to the test de engleză:
The civics test covers 100 important questions regarding the history and Govt. of the United States of America.
Here are some tips to prepare for the US naturalization interview:
The naturalization does not just check your English ability and knowledge about US history. This interview is an opportunity to ensure that you meet all that is required for naturalization. Your application for naturalization is also reviewed thoroughly.
You may be allowed to give your naturalization interview in your native language. However, this will depend on your age and the number of years that you have held the Green Card of the US. If exempt, you may bring an interpreter and have the interview in your native language.
If you are older than 50 years but have held the US Green Card for at least 20 years, you may be exempted under the 50/20 English exemption rule. If you are 55 and above and had a Green Card for 15 years, you may be exempted under the 55/15 exemption rule. The 50/20 and 55/15 rules exempt you from the English test. However, you will still need to give the Civics test, as per the Asian Journal.
If you are older than 65 years and had a Green Card for 20 years, you are exempted from the English Test. Such applicants also need to study just 20 of the required 100 civics questions.
Applicants who have a mental or physical disability are also exempted from the English and Civics test. However, such applicants must have a doctor complete their N-648 application for Disability Waiver. This has to be submitted along with the N-400.
