Recognized Seasonal Employer (RSE) staff delay owing to delayed processing by Immigration New Zealand has frustrated the New Zealand Wine industry. Winegrowers in Marlborough are annoyed by the hindrance in hiring workers. The delayed processing in October and September implies that Recruitment Agreements ATRs will be delayed by a week.

On the other hand, Immigration New Zealand said that delays were caused as clarification was required in the information provided by the employers. Marcus Pickens the General Manager of Wine Marlborough said that the delays are a setback for wine firms in this season. It has caused disappointment and Immigration New Zealand must identify the reasons for this. It must be identified as to what was the actual reason for delay in Recognized Seasonal Employer (RSE) staff hiring.

The situation is really not ideal, said the General Manager. The concerned wing of the INZ must analyze and identify the loopholes and set them right. The delay is really frustrating, added Marcus Pickens, as quoted by the Stuff Co NZ.

Michael Carley the Area Manager for Immigration New Zealand said that as of now there are no delays. But processing of ATR applications is influenced by the type of required information. If clarification is needed for any information provided by the employers, delays are caused. This has contributed to delays in the month of October and September, said Michael Carley.

To avoid the repetition of the scenario, INZ has taken several initiatives. It has added extra Immigration officers, administrative support and dedicated Manager for the RSE unit, explained Carley.

Meanwhile, Pickens said that some Marlborough vineyards are yet to make good the time that was lost owing to the delays. Thus even though the issue is now resolved, the work is delayed.  The Recognized Seasonal Employer (RSE) staff processing delay has delayed work by six weeks.

Jeffrey Clarke the General Counsel and General Manager for advocacy for New Zealand Winegrowers assured that the delays were smoothly resolved.
