Saudi Arabia cuts down visa fees for Hajj travellers

The visa system of Saudi Arabia is being restructured for visitors travelling to the kingdom for Hajj and Umrah.

Under the new visa system, pilgrims coming into the country for Hajj and Umrah will pay a visa fee of SAR 300. Other visitors and those on transit will also pay the same visa fee during this time. There will be no visa fee for those undertaking repeat Umrah visits.

Previously, the visa fee was SAR 2,000 for going on repeat Umrah visits within 3 years. The current visa fee is a significant cut as in comparison.

The visa fee reduction also shows Saudi Arabia’s readiness to receive the increasing numbers of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. Huge infrastructure projects are underway to improve the service system in Mecca, Madina and other holy sites.

Saudi Arabia will also begin issuing Tourist Visas from 27^th Septembrie. In a lead-up to the same, the Saudi Govt. has been collaborating with various influencers to roll out a PR campaign on social media. The PR campaign aims to attract more visitors to the country.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia had the dubious distinction of being one of the hardest countries to visit. This was especially true if you were a non-Muslim or were not visiting for business or pilgrimage. However, the Saudi Government’s efforts are all set to change that, as per Gulf Business.

As per His Royal Highness Mohd. Bin Salman’s Vision 2030 initiative, Saudi Arabia has been working hard to develop tourism in the kingdom. Saudi Arabia had issued visas last year for special events like the Formula E races and Mariah Carey’s concert.
