Thailand to offer new E-Visa & waive fees to boost tourism

Thailand will be offering a new E-Visa to travellers from 20 nations and one business district from 14 February. This will be through a new service known as E-VOA, E –Viza la sosire. It was announced by Pol Lt Gen Surachate Hakparn Immigration Police Chief.

The new E-Visa has been developed by the Biroul pentru Imigrări din Thailanda. It is along with VFS Global cutting the processing times for VOA to as less as 60 seconds.

 Pol Lt Gen Surachate Hakparn said that the new E-Visa service will offer a completely new experience to the travellers. They can fill out the digital form to apply for Thailand Visa and make e-payment at any times. This is irrespective of the working hours of the Embassy.

The tourists can show their passports at specific counters once they arrive at the airports said the Immigration Police Chief. They can thus get the Visa in just 60 seconds instead of 1 or 2 hours, he added.

Individuals can also obtain online travel authorization prior to their departures under the new E-Visa system. This is within 24 to 72 hours of submission of their application. It can be from 1 month to minimum 24 hours prior to their arrival in Thailand, as quoted by the Bangkok Post.

The overseas travellers will be eligible for the new E-Visa system if they arrive at any one of the 4 major international airports:

• Aeroportul internațional Suvarnabhumi
• Aeroportul Internațional Don Mueang
• Aeroportul internațional Phuket
• Aeroportul Internațional Chiang Mai

The service will be extended to more airports in Thailand later in 2019. The Government of Thailand had also waived VOA fee of 2,000 baht from the same 21 nations to boost the arrivals of tourists. This is during the holidays for Chinese New Year and for Songkran celebrated during April second week.
