The UK needs the second referendum on Brexit says, Ian McEwan

Ian McEwan the author of the award-winning “Atonement” has said that the UK needs a second referendum for the Brexit deal with the EU and argued that it was still feasible for the UK to remain a part of the European Union.

McEwan had earlier campaigned in the Brexit referendum for the UK remaining a part of the European Union. In the referendum held earlier, 52% of the voters in the UK had voted for exit from the EU.

He was speaking at a conference titled ‘BREXIT and Political collapse’ being held in London. He added that within two years the UK may either have a deal or no deal at all with the EU and this result demands backing from the electorates.

The award winning author also argues that it was still practical for the UK to have a change of heart and remain in the UK.

McEwan elaborated on the ambiguous nature of Articolul 50 and said that it is written in a basic language. The article is very short and does not define in any way that or even addresses that a nation a must leave the EU once it is initiated by that nation.

The formal process for a member nation of the EU leaving the bloc is mentioned in the Article 50 of the Lisbon treaty of the EU said the author and accused that the political leaders who now champion the Brexit are deserting the voters who opted to remain in the EU.

He further elaborated that political leaders who had till very recently defended the EU now are in the highest political offices in the UK and are forcing the nation out of the bloc.
