Ukraine issues first e-visas to Thai, Malaysians

It was announced by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry that it had issued first electronic visas to the nationals of Malaysia and Thailand who intend to visit the Eastern European country, which was formerly a part of USSR.

Pavlo Klimkin, Ukrainian Foreign Minister, was quoted by Reuters as saying on 5 April that the issuance system of e-visa was working well and that they issued their country’s first electronic visa to a Thai national. He added they were switching to full-scale operation from the test mode.

Earlier, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine tweeted that they had granted a first e-visa in Malaysia.

On 29 March, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s Department of Consular Service announced that entry visas were launched in electronic form for nationals of 46 countries. Included in the list are most Caribbean island nations, central American nations, besides Australia, New Zealand Bolivia, Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Qatar, Kuwait, Laos, Malaysia, Mauritius, the Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Oman, Peru, El Salvador, Malaysia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, the Seychelles, Thailand and Fiji, among others.

The ministry said that developed was the simplest process for the issuance of electronic visas with which migration could be controlled effectively. People can apply for a Ukrainian e-visa with many simple steps from any location. All they would need to do is to complete the online application form, pay on the site with a debit or a credit card, download scanned copies of the documents required and print out an e-visa.

The visa fee for the e-visa is $65 and it will be issued within nine working days. A single-entry visa, it is valid for up to 30 days.
