Nova Scotia targets media developers and programmers in latest PNP draw

The latest Nova Scotia Nominee Program [NS NP] draw held on October 22, 2020, invited candidates from the Labour Market Priorities Stream of the NS NP. Immigration candidates invited can now proceed to applying for a provincial nomination through Nova Scotia.

The total number of invitations issued has not been disclosed.

The previous Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities draw was held on September 24, 2020.

The Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities stream is aligned with the federal Express Entry system of Canada. Draws held by the NS NP under the stream are for the selection of immigration candidates in the Express Entry pool meeting the requirements and demands of the labour market in the province.

Only those Express Entry candidates can apply through the Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities stream that have received a Letter of Interest [LOI] from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration for the same.

In order to be eligible for receiving an LOI by the NS NP, the candidate must fulfil certain criteria.

Eligibility for the Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities stream of the NS NP

Have a valid Express Entry ID Meet the minimum work experience requirements for the Express Entry pool qualifying under Meet all criteria required by IRCC for the Express Entry pool Have legal status in country of residence Receive an LOI from the NS NP Meet the eligibility criteria in place at the time of the issue of the LOI Demonstrate sufficient settlement funds Submit application within 30 days of receiving LOI

While there is a general criteria applicable to all draws for the Labour Market Priorities Stream, certain criteria might differ for each draw depending upon the local market needs.

Criteria for the October 22 NS NP draw

Primary occupation of Clasificarea Națională a Ocupațiilor [NOC] code 2174 [Computer programmers and interactive media developers] Letters of reference from employers as proof of having 3 or more years of experience in NOC 2174 in previous 5 years A minimum 1 year experience in NOC 0 [management jobs], A [professional jobs], B [technical jobs] in Canada Have a Canadian language Benchmark [CLB] of 7 or above in English in all 4 abilities Have a Bachelor’s Degree or have completed a 3 or more years’ program at a university, college, technical school etc. Apply by 11:59 pm on November 21, 2020.

Copies of language tests and proof of education will be required. For education completed outside Canada, an Educational Credential Assessment [ECA] from a designated organization will be required.

A provincial nomination gets 600 additional points towards the Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score of that Express Entry candidate. Hence, a nomination through the Programul de candidaturi provinciale [PNP] is a guarantee of being issued an invitation to apply for Canada PR in the next federal Express Entry draw.
